NASHUA – A 37-year-old local man with a history of arrests on armed robbery, assault and reckless conduct charges is now facing two new felony charges accusing him of forcing his way into a Nashua home early Saturday morning and attacking the occupant, according to police.

Stefan Baringer, of 66 Anvil Drive, faces one count each of burglary, a Class A felony, and criminal mischief, a Class B felony, but after he was booked on the charges, police said he was released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which will take place in Hillsborough County Superior Court South on a date yet to be determined.

Police said officers were called to the residence, the address of which wasn’t provided, about 12:30 Saturday morning by the alleged victim, who called 911 after a man he described as a stranger had forced his way into his home and assaulted him.

Officers arrived to find the resident, a man who wasn’t identified, restraining the suspect inside the house, police said.

The officers identified the suspect as Baringer, and after speaking with the resident took Baringer into custody.

Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, who were called in to further the investigation, determined that Baringer also allegedly “damaged an abundance of property items” in the house, and charged him with the two felony offenses.

Police didn’t indicate whether the alleged victim was injured in the alleged attack, or if so, the extent of his injuries.

As for Baringer’s criminal record, which includes several entries dating back to the early 2000s, one of his most recent cases stems from the armed robbery of a Dunkin’ Donuts shop on East Hollis Street.

According to court records, Baringer and another man were charged with robbing the shop in April 2012, during which they allegedly threatened two female employees then fled with about $200 in cash, the records state.

About a year later, Baringer reached a plea deal with prosecutors in which he agreed to plead guilty to the armed robbery charge in exchange for a deferred, and suspended, prison sentence.

Regarding Baringer’s Saturday arrest, police ask that anyone who may have any information on the alleged incident to contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
