Hollis police busy with store theft, three DUI arrests – two involving crashes – in just over three days

HOLLIS – A call that came in around 3:40 p.m. last Wednesday reporting a theft at The Hatch, the convenience store on Runnells Bridge Road, would turn out to be the first in a series of incidents between then and 2:30 Saturday morning that resulted in someone being arrested.

The other three cases led to the arrests of three men on driving under the influence and other charges, two of which stemmed from allegations that the drivers crashed their vehicles then left the scene, according to police.

Regarding the theft from The Hatch, which was reported by an employee, officers reviewed footage from the store’s security cameras, in which the suspect “could clearly be seen concealing an item on her person and leaving the store.”

Police didn’t say what the item was, but the employee was able to get a good description of the vehicle in which the suspect left, police said.

A short time later, the vehicle was located in neighboring Pepperell, Massachusetts. The allegedly stolen property was recovered, police said, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of the suspect, Natasha Blouin, 27, of St. Albans, Vermont, on one count of theft.

Blouin turned herself in to police after learning the warrant had been issued, police said. She was booked on the charge and later released on personal recognizance bail pending an April 22 arraignment in Nashua district court.

Several hours after that incident, at around 9 p.m., police, firefighters and medical personnel were called to the area of Wood Lane and Apple Lane by a nearby resident who reported hearing a collision, then later saw the vehicle involved traveling on Apple Lane, police said.

Responding officers drove up Apple Lane, one of the streets in a condominium community off of Rocky Pond Road, and spotted the vehicle parked in front of one of the condo units.

Inside they found 49-year-old Jed Darling sitting in the passenger seat, police said, and upon speaking with him determined he was allegedly impaired.

They charged Darling with one count of driving under the influence, a Class B misdemeanor, and later released him on personal recognizance bail pending an April 22 arraignment in Nashua district court.

The next incident occurred Friday evening around 7 p.m., police said, when Officer Nicholas Collishaw, while on patrol on Route 111, observed a vehicle traveling in “an erratic manner.”

Collishaw pulled over the vehicle, and upon speaking with the driver, identified as Michael Charron, 24, of Nashua, determined he was allegedly operating while impaired.

Collishaw then learned through a records check that Charron’s license had been suspended for a previous conviction on a DUI charge, police said.

Collishaw took Charron into custody, charging him with one count each of driving under the influence – second offense, and operating after suspension, both Class A misdemeanors, along with a Class B misdemeanor charge of DUI, and a violation-level charge of lane control violation.

Charron was likewise booked and released on personal recognizance bail pending his April 22 arraignment in Nashua district court.

About eight hours later, around 2:30 Saturday morning, first-responders were called out to a reported motor vehicle crash in the area of The Timber Post Bed and Breakfast, 162 Broad St., according to police.

Officers determined that a vehicle, traveling west on Broad Street toward town, left the road and allegedly struck a mailbox and several bushes, but continued traveling west on Broad Street.

Police said officers located the suspect vehicle on Broad Street a short distance from the scene. In speaking with the driver, whom they identified as 33-year-old Hollis resident Matthew Tomer, officers determined he was allegedly impaired, police said.

They charged Tomer with DUI – second offense, and criminal mischief, both Class A misemeanors, and one Class B misdemeanor count of DUI.

Tomer was booked and was also released on personal recognizance bail with a court date of April 22.
