NASHUA – Nashua Fire Rescue and AMR responded to a call for a structure fire on 8 Meadowbrook Drive Saturday night, where one person died from injuries sustained in the blaze.

The first crews arriving reported heavy fire in the rear of the building, and heavy fire in the basement. Firefighters were hampered due to part of the first floor collapsing and what was described as hoarding conditions.

Crews extended a ladder truck to the roof while several firefighters attempted to search the house. After approximately 15 minutes, an adult male was found and handed out the first floor window to firefighters. The man was rushed to a waiting structure where AMR medics began CPR and rushed him to a waiting ambulance. He was pronounced dead after arriving at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, hospital officials said.

The fire was brought under control after about 30 minutes, and the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office and New Hampshire State Fire Marshal were notified.

Yellow crime scene and fire tape cordoned off the single family house as investigators began looking for the cause of the fire.
