Arraignment set today for Nashua man accused of possessing, distributing child sex abuse images

NASHUA – Police said a recent search of Gregory Payeur’s Nashua residence turned up an “electronic device” that allegedly contained child sexual abuse images, prompting the issuance of a warrant on which Payeur was arrested over the weekend.

Payeur, 40, of 184 Harris Road, was booked on a total of 10 charges – five counts each of distribution of child sexual abuse images and possession of child sexual abuse images – then ordered held on preventive detention pending today’s scheduled arraignment in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

The distribution charges are classified as special felonies, which are each punishable by up to 10-20 years in prison, while the possession charges are Class B felonies, which are punishable by up to 7 years in prison.

Police said representatives of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) recently notified Nashua detectives that they had information “regarding the exploitation of children on a social media chat application,” and that members of the Cyber Crimes Against Children Unit furthered the investigation.

Unit members developed evidence that led to the identification of Payeur as the alleged suspect in the case, police said. The warrant for his arrest was issued when the search of his residence turned up the device that allegedly contained the images.

Police ask anyone who has any additional information about this case, or would like to anonymously report cases of child exploitation, to call the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.

Police also said the department, as an affiliate of the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, “is working to combat child exploitation in New Hampshire.”
