New felony theft charge filed against one of three suspects in October stolen-tools case in Nashua

MERRIMACK – One of the three young Merrimack men charged in December with stealing thousands of dollars worth of tools from construction trailers in Nashua is now facing new theft charge that police say stems from a similar theft in Merrimack.

Cody Cook, 18, of 90 Turkey Hill Road, turned himself in to police this week after a warrant had been issued for his arrest on one count of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Police said the charge, which is a Class B felony, accuses Cook of participating in the theft of more than $3,000 worth of tools and miscellaneous items from two construction trailers parked at a build site on Executive Park Drive.

The alleged victim called police the morning of Oct. 26 to report the alleged thefts, which occurred in the overnight hours. He told police video surveillance cameras showed three men allegedly breaking into the two trailers.

In early December, Nashua police arrested Cook and two other young men in connection with the alleged theft of tools from constructions trailers parked at Fairgrounds middle and elementary schools in Nashua.

That alleged theft occurred during the overnight hours of Oct. 27-28, just a day or two after the Merrimack thefts were reported.

Nashua and Merrimack detectives collaborated on their respective investigations, which led to information that Cook had allegedly been storing a large amount of tools and other items at his residence.

Police were granted a warrant to search Cook’s residence, where they recovered “numerous stolen tools and items” allegedly stolen from the two construction sites.

Cook was booked on the charge and later released on personal recognizance bail pending a future arraignment in Hillsborough County Superior Court South in Nashua.
