Police renew appeal for help in finding Weare man missing since September

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Feb 23, 2021

Manuel Soares, 37, of Weare. Missing person.

WEARE – While numerous tips have come in to law enforcement authorities in recent weeks regarding the whereabouts of 37-year-old Manuel O. Soares, the search goes on for the Weare resident last seen leaving the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

Police agencies throughout the region have been keeping an eye out for Soares, who was reported missing back in September. The most recent sighting of Soares leaving the Elliot Hospital was reported Sept. 28, but little more has been learned except he was alone at the time and was heading toward Tarrytown Road on foot.

Most all the tips have put Soares in or near Manchester, according to a police spokeswoman.

She said Soares has a medical condition, and didn’t have his prescribed medication with him.

A Facebook account titled “Missing Manuel Soares” that was created in October states he goes by “Manie” Soares, and is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

He has brown and gray hair, is bald on top; has brown eyes; and a full beard and mustache.

He was wearing a tan t-shirt, plaid shorts, black Crocs and a dark baseball cap.

Anyone who has any additional information on Soares’s whereabouts, or who believes they have seen him, is urged to contact Weare police at 529-7788 or Manchester police at 668-8711.
