MERRIMACK – Calls to police late Sunday night reporting a car stopped in the middle of the road with an unresponsive man in the drivers seat led to the arrest of a local resident for OUI, police said.

Diego Espinoza Guevara, 39, of 48 Erik St., was charged with one count each of operating under the influence of liquor and driving after suspension of his license, according to police.

Responding police and firefighters arrived to find the vehicle stopped in the road near the intersection of Continental Boulevard and Contra Way, and upon looking inside saw an allegedly unresponsive man later identified as Guevara.

Officers were able to awaken Guevara, police said, and during a subsequent discussion they “noticed signs of impairment due to the consumption of alcohol.”

While Guevara was being booked on the charge at police headquarters, police discovered his license had been suspended by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles.

Once the booking process was completed, Guevara was released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which police said is scheduled for March 23 in Merrimack district court.
