PELHAM – A Massachusetts woman suffered injuries considered serious, but not life-threatening, in a single-vehicle snowmobile crash Saturday on Noella Road.

Michelle Saball, 60, of North Reading, Massachusetts, was found lying on the ground with serious injuries, according to Pelham police and state Fish and Game officers, who are conducting a joint investigation into the crash.

They said a preliminary investigation indicates the crash may have been the result of operator error, and that it doesn’t appear that either speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Saball was treated at the scene by Pelham medical personnel, then transported to Lowell General Hospital, officials said.

They said calls came in around 1:30 Saturday afternoon from a residence on Noella Avenue, which runs off Marsh Road (Route 111A) and dead-ends just past Honey Lane in the southern part of town.

The snowmobile Saball was operating, a 1997 Arctic Cat 600, was the only vehicle involved in the crash, police said.
