Andrew Sam, 23, of Lowell, Massachusetts

NASHUA – A woman known to 23-year-old Andrew Sam told police on Monday that Sam allegedly assaulted her and destroyed items belonging to her during an altercation earlier in the day.

Come Tuesday morning, police caught up with Sam, a resident of Lowell, Massachusetts, took him into custody and charged him with two felonies and six misdemeanors.

The Class B felonies include one count each of second-degree assault – domestic violence, and criminal mischief.

The Class A misdemeanors consist of two counts each of simple assault – domestic violence, criminal mischief, and stalking, according to police.

Police didn’t describe the circumstances surrounding the alleged incidents, other than Sam and the alleged victim know each other and that he’s prohibited by previously-issued bail conditions from having any contact with her.

Sam was booked on the charges at police headquarters, then was held in custody after refusing bail, police said.

He is scheduled for arraignment today in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

Police ask anyone who may have additional information on the case to contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
