Nashua BOE names McKinney interim superintendent, Andrade interim assistant
Named interim superintendent was Garth McKinney, for the past three years the district’s assistant superintendent for elementary education, while Mario Andrade, most recently the interim principal of Elm Street Middle School, will fill McKinney’s assistant superintendent post on an interim basis.
McKinney and Andrade assume their new duties on Monday, Feb. 1, and will serve through the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends June 30.
School officials said in a statement that the district and the BOE made the nominations promptly in order “to advance a transition leadership plan.”
Current superintendent Jahmal Mosley, who announced recently his departure from Nashua after he was named to the superintendent’s post in the South Hadley, Massachusetts school district, will “remain in an advisory capacity” to Nashua’s senior administration through the rest of the school year, according to the statement.
The BOE approved a $150,000 annual salary, pro-rated, for McKinney, and a $125,000 salary, pro-rated, for Andrade.
The two join assistant superintendent of secondary education Anthony Parker as the district’s senior administrators.
Before becoming assistant superintendent in 2017, McKinney served three years as assistant principal at Main Dunstable Elementary School.
“I am thankful for the opportunity and look forward to working with the Board of Education,” McKinney said in the statement. “Also, congratulations to Mario Andrade … I look forward to working together.”
Andrade, before coming to Nashua, worked as an education consultant, and before that he served six years as superintendent of the Bristol-Warren Regional School District in Rhode Island.
“I am excited to join the Central Office leadership team and help support and bolster the students, educators, administrators, support staff and school community from this position,” Andrade said.
“My time to date in the district has been very rewarding as I have observed the herculean work our schools have been doing for our students, families, and each other,” he added.
