MERRIMACK – A 33-year-old woman currently listed as homeless has been arrested in Rochester on a warrant that Merrimack police issued in December 2019 on allegations she cashed a $2,268 check police said she knew was forged.

Darnette M. Thompson was taken into custody by Rochester police after they discovered Merrimack authorities had an active warrant out for her arrest, police said.

Thompson faces one count each of forgery and theft, both of which are felonies, police said.

She was booked at Rochester police headquarters and later released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which will take place at Hillsborough County Superior Court South on a date yet to be determined, police added.

Officials at a Merrimack bank, which police didn’t name, contacted police on Dec. 2, 2019, reporting that an allegedly forged check had been cashed about 10 days earlier, on Nov. 22.

Police opened an investigation, and shortly thereafter developed Thompson as the suspect and issued the warrant for her arrest, police said.
