MANCHESTER – An autopsy conducted Tuesday confirmed the identities of the two people found deceased in a Bodwell Road apartment Monday as Mercedes Tremblay, 25, and Mason Tremblay, age 2, the Attorney General’s office announced.

It is believed the victims are mother and son, but that has yet to be confirmed. According to the results of the autopsy, which was conducted by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg, Mercedes Tremblay’s death was caused by a single gunshot wound to the head.

As for the manner of her death, officials said that element remains under investigation. “Manner of death” is the determination of how a person’s injury or disease leads to their death. There are five possibilities: natural, accidental, suicide, homicide or undetermined.

Officials said both the cause and manner of Mason Tremblay’s death also remain under investigation.

While the investigation “is active and ongoing,” officials said, they said that “based on the information to date, there is no evidence to suggest that there is a threat to the general public.”

Police and first responders were called late Monday morning to an apartment at 1345 Bodwell Road for a report of a “medical problem.”

A short time later, numerous uniformed officers and detectives arrived at the scene, as did the department’s crime scene vehicle.

There were reports that the other residents of the multi-unit apartment building, which is in a complex called Tall Pines, were initially evacuated, but were allowed back in a short time later.

Police ask anyone who had contact with either Mercedes Tremblay or Mason Tremblay since Sunday, Dec. 6, to contact the department’s detective unit at 668-8711.
