JAFFREY – A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death Saturday in a Jaffrey residence in what officials are calling a homicide.

Jake Seaburg, who is believed to be from Acton, Massachusetts, was stabbed in the chest, law enforcement officials said.

They said the circumstances surrounding the incident and other details are under investigation.

The residence in which the stabbing occurred is a large, 2 1/2-story building that appears to have multiple apartments. The building, which local and state police cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape, is on the corner of Peterborough Road, which is Route 202, and a short street called Laundry Road, not far from the center of town.

“All relevant parties to the incident have been identified, and there is no evidence to suggest that there is a threat to the general public,” officials said in a statement. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

They said an autopsy, conducted by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg, confirmed the cause of Seaburg’s death as a stab wound to the chest.
