Hudson police nab suspect near scene of alleged burglary

Justin Spencer, 33, of Nashua

HUDSON – Police said their suspect in an attempted burglary at a Berkeley Drive residence had run off before officers arrived, but thanks to witness descriptions they were able to catch up with him just around the corner.

The suspect, identified as Justin Spencer, 33, a Nashua resident with a last known address of 1 Salvail Court, Apt. 3, was taken into custody and charged with one count of felony burglary, police said.

He was booked at police headquarters then transported to Valley Street jail pending arraignment in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

According to court archives, it’s not the first time Spencer has been arrested on criminal charges, which, documents state, typically involve allegations of theft, and, more recently, theft by deception and credit card fraud.

Some of the charges, court documents show, were dismissed, while one, a Nashua case, appears to be ongoing.

As for Tuesday’s arrest, police said witnesses called shortly after 3;30 p.m. to Berkeley Drive to report a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, the suspect later identified as Spencer was gone, but witness descriptions helped officers spot him on Derry Lane, not far from the Berkeley Drive-Derry Lane intersection.

Police said officers at the scene discovered evidence of forced entry into a residence, but didn’t indicate whether anything was taken.
