Nashua teen faces multiple drug-related charges; arraignment pending

Gavin Belesca, 18, of 52 Pine Hill Road, Nashua

NASHUA – An investigation police said began in August regarding allegations that 18-year-old Gavin Belesca was “selling illicit drugs” in Nashua led to Belesca’s arrest late last week on a series of drug-related charges.

Officers with the department’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit took Belesca into custody shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday on a warrant detectives issued during the investigation, police said.

They also served Belesca with a warrant to search his residence, 52 Pine Hill Road, and a short time later charged him with the alleged offenses.

They include four counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, special felonies; one count of common nuisances, Class B felony, and one count of possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, according to police.

The common nuisances charge, which was fairly recently added to the state’s Controlled Drug Act statute, accuses Belesca of “knowingly keeping or maintaining” a location, in this case his residence, for the “illegal keeping or selling” of controlled drugs, or where people go “for the purpose of using controlled drugs,” according to the statute.

Police said officers transported Belesca to police headquarters, where he was booked on the charges and later released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which police said has yet to be scheduled.

Police urge residents with any information regarding illegal drug activity in Nashua to call the department’s Narcotics Hotline at 594-3597, or go to www.nashuapd.com.

Anyone with any additional information on this case is asked to call the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
