Vehicle with two license plates that didn’t match catches Merrimack officer’s attention

Dylan Beaudet, 26, of 12 Candy Lane, Chichester

MERRIMACK – When a police officer spotted a parked car at a gas station and noticed its two license plates didn’t match, he went looking for the driver to ask what was up.

A records check the officer ran in the meantime showed that neither of the plates belonged on the vehicle, according to police.

Then, when the officer located the driver and spoke with him, he allegedly identified himself as Dylan Dupont – but upon further review, the officer determined his name is actually Dylan Beaudet, police said.

Things would only get worse from there for Beaudet, 26, of 12 Candy Lane in Chichester, who would end up under arrest on a variety of charges ranging from the misuse of plates violation to a felony count of possession of methamphetamine.

In between, Beaudet was charged with one count each of disobeying an officer, operating after suspension and circumventing an ignition interlock device, according to police.

The disobeying charge stems from Beaudet allegedly giving the officer a false name, while the operating after suspension offense was added when the records check the officer ran showed he is currently under suspension.

The officer also learned from the records check that an active electronic bench warrant was pending against Beaudet, having been issued out of Hooksett district court regarding charges stemming from a previous arrest by Pembroke police.

And the check also informed the officer that Beaudet was required to have an ignition interlock device installed on any vehicle he was to operate once his license was reinstated, and the vehicle he was using that night had no device.

Finally, the methamphetamine charge was added when police, during a post-arrest search, discovered two baggies and a screw top container containing small quantities of a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine, police said.

Beaudet was booked on the charges at police headquarters then released on personal recognizance bail pending a Superior Court arraignment.

But when Beaudet was unable to come up with the cash bail set by the Hooksett court regarding his warrant arrest, he was transported to Valley Street jail to await arraignment, a date for which had yet to be set, police added.
