MERRIMACK – Roughly 500-600 voters turned out early Tuesday at the Merrimack High School polls, creating lines that at one point wrapped around the building.
Some voters said they were in line outside for about 25 minutes before they reached the doors, then once inside, encountered an estimated 15-minute wait to cast their ballots.
People waited in line peacefully, and campaign volunteers quietly held signs for their candidates near the school entrance.
Things appeared much smoother than in the 2016 election, when vehicular traffic backed up miles from the school, in part due to changes in polling locations.
Traffic this year flowed constantly into and out of the high school parking lots.
