By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Nov 2, 2020

Michael Koza, 40, most recent address, 1 Mellens Court, Apt. B, Nashua; formerly of 284 Douglas Road, Lowell, Mass.

NASHUA – Back in June, when police arrested 40-year-old Michael Koza, whose most recent address is 1 Mellens Court, Apt. B, they charged him with three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault – and indicated the investigation was continuing and “additional charges are expected.”

Those additional charges would eventually add up to 18, bringing to 21 the number of AFSA counts on which Koza was subsequently indicted by a grand jury for Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

All 21 indictments are on the charge of pattern aggravated felonious sexual assault, which means Koza is accused of molesting each of the four alleged victims “on more than one occasion over a period of two months or more, and within a period of five years.”

Eight of the indictments are on the charge of pattern aggravated felonious sexual assault without penetration, which indicates allegations of improper touching or fondling, while the remaining 13 allege acts involving penetration.

The allegations first came to light in the wake of an argument in May between the father and Godfather of one of the alleged victims, who was 9 years old at the time.

Shortly after the argument, police said at the time, the boy divulged to his mother that his Godfather – Koza – had allegedly been molesting him over a period of time.

The mother called police, but Koza, whose address at the time was listed as 284 Douglas Road in Lowell, had left the Nashua residence where the argument had taken place, and where the boy and his family lived.

Police eventually contacted Koza, whom they described as cooperative in speaking with detectives. The investigation they launched at the time led to Koza’s arrest about a month later, but detectives suspected they would uncover additional evidence that would lead to additional charges.

As for when the alleged incidents occurred, the indictments list several different time frames, the earliest of which is April 2006 through April 2010, during which three of the alleged incidents occurred.

Three others allegedly occurred between January 2008 and December 2013.

Four offenses allegedly occurred between January 2008 and December 2012, while four others allegedly occurred between February 2018 and May 2020, the indictment state.

Three alleged incidents occurred between January and December 2013, while two allegedly took place between September 2010 and September 2015, and two others between Sept. 2015 and September 2016.

As for the alleged victims, one was allegedly molested when he was between 6 and 12 years old; one was between 7 and 13; one was between 12 and 15; and one was between 7 and 9.
