The United Way of Greater Nashua is partnering with the Nashua School District and the USDA to distribute food boxes to almost 1,200 families this coming Saturday. The event will take place at 10 am, first come first served, at Ledge Street Elementary School in Nashua. Thanks to the USDA Famers-to-Families program, each participating individual or family will receive a food box containing 12 lbs of fresh produce, 5 lbs of dairy products, 5 lbs of protein and meat products, and a gallon of milk. In total over 17 tons of food will be distributed!

United Way’s COVID Response Team Volunteers will be handing out the food boxes, along with a packet of 5 reusable face masks to each participating family. United Way anticipates distributing 6,000 face masks at this event, in addition to the over 110,000 that they have already handed out in the community. It is anticipated that the event will run out quickly, so anybody wishing to participate is encouraged to arrive before 10 and be prepared to wait in line until served. There is no need to sign up and there are no qualification criteria to participate.

Food security is always an issue, and more significantly during these difficult pandemic times. We are very appreciative to the USDA and Nashua School District for helping us to make this important food resource available. Also, we are very appreciative to FEMA, which has been a key partner of ours for PPE, and this Saturday with the face masks which we will be distributing.”
