Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire to break new ground in Nashua

Transitional housing nonprofit expands facility to house more than 25 families in the wake of the pandemic

By Staff | Oct 29, 2020

NASHUA – Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire announced Wednesday its new location in Nashua. A socially distant groundbreaking ceremony is being hosted today at the former Infant Jesus School building.

In August, Family Promise was fortunate to be awarded a $2.7 million grant through the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery’s Shelter Modification Program. These funds, facilitated by New Hampshire Housing and Finance Authority (NHHFA), propelled the project towards a phase 1 completion date of December 2020. In this renovated space Family Promise will be able to provide transitional housing to more than 25 families, doubling its current capacity.

“We are grateful to the Governor’s office, NHHFA, Harvey Construction, and Dennis Mires Architects for turning this project around so quickly for us,” said Executive Director, Pam Wellman. “Construction will be completed just in time for us to support the families facing homelessness as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will feature special guests including Governor Chris Sununu, Nashua Mayor, Jim Donchess, Bishop Peter Libasci, Diocese of Manchester, Family Promise National CEO, Claas Ehlers, New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority team members, Infant Jesus School Council members, and other guests of honor.

To support the completion of this endeavor, Family Promise requests donations to their Building Home Building Hope Capital Campaign, with the goal of raising the remaining $1.3 million dollars by February 2021. Donations can be mailed to Family Promise of Southern New Hampshire, P.O. Box 450, Nashua, NH 03061 or online at www.familypromisesnh.org /building-home/.
