CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man has been charged with assaulting a taxi driver with a pocketknife, authorities said Saturday.

New Hampshire State Police said the taxi driver told authorities that he was assaulted by a passenger while driving on Interstate 89 in Concord on Friday. The driver was able to pull over and the two fought on the side of the roadway before the driver escaped, police said.

Police said the man’s wallet and a small pocketknife were left in the taxi. Officers found the man later walking in the breakdown lane on the interstate and he was taken into custody, police said. Police identified him as 44-year-old Dax David Duclos of Hopkinton.

The driver was not seriously injured. He was treated by emergency responders and released, police said.

Duclos is charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, police said. He’s expected to be arraigned at a later date, and it was not immediately clear Saturday whether he has a lawyer to comment on his behalf.
