Threats mailed to Milford, Brookline residents displaying Trump yard signs

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Oct 22, 2020

MILFORD – Representatives of the Attorney General’s office and the U.S. Postal Service are looking into reports that three, possibly four households in two towns have received threatening letters over their support for President Trump.

“There were two instances in our town, and I know of at least one in Brookline,” Milford police Capt. Craig Frye said Wednesday.

Brookline Chief Bill Quigley later told news outlets that two cases had been reported in that town. Quigley said the letters included threats to “burn homes down” and therefore to cause injury, which make the threats felony-level offenses.

In Milford, Frye said the department contacted both the AG’s office and Postal Service inspectors, because while the letters had a Manchester postmark, “they could have been mailed from almost anywhere.”

It’s not known if the contents are the same in each of the four letters, but one of them, according to various news outlets, began with “Dear Neighbor, you have been identified by our group as being a Trump supporter.

“Your address has been added to our database as a target when we attack, should Trump not concede the election.”
