Modified version of annual Greek Food Fest less than a week away

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Sep 26, 2020

Telegraph file photo Cubes of marinated lamb grilled on giant skewers is a staple feature of the annual St. Philip Greek Food Festival, which has been moved from May to October this year because of the COVID-19 virus threat.

NASHUA Back in May, the month in which St. Philip Church’s iconic Greek Food Fest has always been held, the first weekend of October seemed so far away.

Well, get ready, because it’s almost here, and with it comes the long-awaited 2020 Greek Food Fest, which will take place this Friday and Saturday, albeit in a COVID-19 compliant, modified version.

Most importantly, all the same favorites, from grilled lamb shish kabob, pastichio, spanakopita and rice and green beans to Greek meatballs and spinach tiropita, both as dinners and a la carte, are on the menu.

The main difference from previous years is that rather than entering the church hall, getting in line, ordering buffet-style, paying at a register then choosing to dine under the giant tent or take their dinner home, patrons will order their food online, print out their order number, drive up to the church at an agreed-upon time, and hand the printout to one of the greeters, who will bring your order to your car.

The hours are a little shorter, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. It’s during those hours that patrons can schedule their food pickup times.
