Classes begin today for Leadership Greater Nashua Class of 2020-21; program runs through mid-June

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Sep 24, 2020

NASHUA – Leadership Greater Nashua, a Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce program geared toward emerging and established business and community leaders in the area, begins its 2020-21 season today with its traditional opening retreat.

This year’s class, which is the 26th convened under the LGN banner, is made up of 17 individuals “representing a diverse cross-section of industries and organizations” in Greater Nashua, according to Chamber president and CEO Kate Luczko.

By participating in the program, class members are given the opportunity to meet other key industry and civic leaders in the region, “while gaining a comprehensive and in-depth overview of the various elements of the community that make it such a great place in which to live, work and raise a family,” Luczko said.

In addition to getting “an inside perspective on Greater Nashua’s infrastructure,” Luczko said participants are afforded the opportunity to “grow relationships with their peers, and meet industry leaders and important constituents.”

Other than today’s opening retreat and the program’s mid-June graduation, participants meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The topic of the first program, on Oct. 7, is “Who is Greater Nashua: History, Culture & the Arts,” according to the schedule.

Next up will be Health & Wellness, followed by Criminal Justice & Public Safety; Nonprofits; Education & Workforce; Government & Politics; Environment & Sustainability; Economic Development; and Hospitality & Tourism.

The program concludes with “Graduation, Reflections & The Future” on June 16, 2021.

LGN, according to Luczko, has turned out roughly 500 graduates since its inception. “LGN participants and alumni are among the most engaged, connected and influential leaders” in the region,” she said.

LGN grads are leaders of companies, serving on boards, holding positions as elected officials locally and at the state level, heading up nonprofit organizations and volunteering their time and talents “to make a positive impact” in their communities, Luczko added.

Luczko herself is an LGN graduate, which gives her first-hand knowledge of the program.

“As a graduate, I know the value of the program,” she said. LGN “gives participants the tools and resources they need to have an in-depth understanding of Greater Nashua’s cultural and economic opportunities as well as its civic and community needs.

“Students build on their existing strengths as leaders while growing their professional network. I am excited to get to know and work with this year’s class, and to see what they will do in the future with all that they learn from the program,” she said.

Eversource Energy is the exclusive underwriting sponsor for this year’s program.
