Travis Gora, 27, of 67 Ash St., Nashua

NASHUA – Police in recent days took into custody two Nashua men, one a Tier III sex offender convicted in June 2013 of aggravated felonious sexual assault, following a recent investigation into what police described as the exploitation of children on the Internet.

Arrested were Shawn Dixon, 44, of 346 Main Dunstable Road, and Travis Gora, 27, of 67 Ash St., according to police.

Both are charged with one count each of certain uses of computer services prohibited, and attempted felonious sexual assault. The charges are Class B felonies, but the attempted felonious sexual assault charge against Gora is classified as a special felony, the result of his conviction in June 2013 of aggravated felonious sexual assault.

That conviction also put Gora on the state’s sex-offender registry as a Tier III sex offender.

Gora, at his subsequent arraignment and bail hearing, was ordered held on preventive detention due to the “facts and circumstances surrounding the complaints, and his prior AFSA conviction,” according to the bail order.

Shawn Dixon, age 44, of 346 Main Dunstable Road, Nashua

He is ordered to participate meaningfully in treatment at Harbor Homes, and undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation with risk assessment, the order states.

He is also prohibited from having any contact with any

one under age 18.

The court will consider reducing Gora’s bail to personal recognizance upon a future review, and if it is granted, he would be released into home confinement, according to the order.

As for Dixon, he was released on personal recognizance bail, and ordered to live at his Main Dunstable Road address, have no unsupervised contact with anyone under age 18, and otherwise remain on good behavior.

Dixon’s next court date has yet to be scheduled.

Police said detectives with the department’s Special Investigation Division work to combat child exploitation, in conjunction with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, of which the department is an affiliate.

They said investigators, over the course of August and September, identified Dixon and Gora as suspects who were allegedly communicating online with individuals they believed to be children.

Police ask that anyone with further information on the cases, or anyone who wishes to anonymously report cases of child exploitation, contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
