Burdette named Telegraph publisher; will continue in role as editor

NASHUA – Matt Burdette, The Telegraph’s editor in chief for the past three years, has been named publisher of the nearly 200-year-old newspaper and its other publications and websites.
Burdette, who also will continue in his role as editor, takes over for Heather Goodwin Henline.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to take on this new role at The Telegraph,” Burdette said. “Greater Nashua and the Souhegan Valley are such special places, truly the jewels in the crown of southern New Hampshire. “I have loved every minute of my time here in the Granite State, and am very proud to call it home.”
“The Telegraph has a rich tradition of excellence, one which I very much look forward to continuing,” Burdette added. “While we have, indeed, undergone some recent changes sparked by this terrible pandemic, we have emerged stronger and continue to provide the best news, sports and features coverage in the region.”
Prior to becoming editor of The Telegraph on Aug. 15, 2017, Burdette was executive editor and commercial print director of The Inter-Mountain in Elkins, West Virginia, a sister newspaper of The Telegraph.
During his five-year tenure in Elkins, The Inter-Mountain earned Newspaper of the Year honors from the West Virginia Press Association, and General Excellence awards five consecutive years. During his tenure, The Inter-Mountain also was recognized multiple times by Editor & Publisher Magazine for innovation in the newspaper industry and for its approach to newsgathering.
In addition, Burdette also has served as city editor and news editor of The Journal in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and in a variety of roles at The Parkersburg News & Sentinel, also in the Mountain State.
Altogether, he has 30 years experience in the newspaper industry with The Ogden Newspaper – the parent company of The Telegraph – first starting when he was a freshman in high school. He has earned more than 125 editorial and advertising awards during his career from the West Virginia Press Association, the New England Newspaper & Press Association, the Associated Press and the New Hampshire Press Association.
Burdette resides in Nashua with his brother, Mickey, who is a district sales manager in the circulation department at The Telegraph.
“I look forward to continuing and greatly expanding upon the great work done here at The Telegraph,” Burdette said. “I also look forward to getting even more involved with this amazing community, its everyday citizens, its business leaders and nonprofit organization. My door always is open, and I’m always willing to lend a helping hand.
In addition to its flagship newspaper, The Telegraph produces several other publications, including The Cabinet in Milford, the Hollis-Brookline Sunday Select, the Merrimack Sunday Select, Granite Magazine and multiple websites.
