MANCHESTER – While police continue to piece together details in the shots-fired incident late Saturday night at a North End residence, they have confirmed that one person, a man identified as 46-year-old Barry Lord, has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to information released Monday afternoon.
Police also said a 47-year-old woman, whom they didn’t identify by name, suffered gunshot wounds to her legs. She was able to crawl from the spot she was shot to the edge of Union Street, where she flagged down a passing motorist who police said stopped to assist her.
She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of the injuries, which police said didn’t appear to be life-threatening.
Police said the shootings, which occurred at 1454 Union St., stemmed from a domestic argument between Lord and the woman. They said Lord shot at the woman multiple times, hitting her twice, then came out of the house and shot himself in the head in the driveway.
According to earlier reports, officers initially responded to the area of Union Street and North Acres Road after someone reported hearing a gunshot.

At about the same time, firefighters and an AMR ambulance were summoned to the area for a possible victim with a gunshot wound.
Crews were on the scene for less than 10 minutes when a second AMR ambulance was requested for a possible second person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Come Sunday morning, a number of residents of the quiet, North End neighborhood said they saw authorities remove a body from the property, and noted the presence of the police department’s crime scene van stationed outside the home.
Police closed Union Street between North Acres Road and Crestview Circle for most of Sunday morning as they conducted their investigation.
A bio-hazard clean up company that specializes in crime scenes involving blood was called to the scene. An employee, wearing a Tyvek suit, gloves, a protective mask and breathing apparatus cleaned what appeared to be a large amount of blood that covered the driveway near the two-car garage, as well as a car parked in the driveway.

Representatives of the state Attorney General’s office, who are typically called in to work with local authorities in such cases, hadn’t issued any statements or press releases as of Monday.
