By Adam Urquhart - Staff Writer | Jun 27, 2020

The Telegraph celebrates Nashua’s upcoming virtual pride event with a window display designed and put up by Business Office Manager Jeni St. Laurent.

NASHUA – The city of Nashua is not letting the current pandemic cancel this year’s pride celebration.

Every year, both members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies celebrate pride during the month of June. The coronavirus disease pandemic forced the city to make the decision to host this year’s festivities online, bringing pride right to people’s homes. Although previous years have celebrated pride with colorful parades in the city, the 2020 event will offer something new.

The event is now in its third year and will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. People can tune in on various platforms, including the Pride Festival Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/NashuaPrideFestival/. Other options include,

Nashua’s Community Television Channel 16: https://www.nashuanh.gov/318/CTV – Nashua-Community-Television.

Access Nashua channel 96: https://accessnashua.org.

City of Nashua website: https://www.nashuanh.gov/1217/Nashua-Pride-Festival.

This year’s event will feature music, a drag show and various speakers. The full lineup can be found online in the details of the event page set up for Virtual Pride on Facebook.

The event is organized by the Mayor’s Office, Nashua’s Pride Committee and Great American Downtown.

There are also a number of supporting organizations as well. This event is free to join.

“What I want to communicate is that in Nashua everyone belongs, that every person is created equal, that we respect the rights and the humanity of everyone, and this is one of our deepest beliefs that we act on every day,” Mayor Jim Donchess said in a recent interview.
