Shots fired call leads to Nashua man’s arrest, seizure of AK-47
NASHUA – Police called to the area of Main Dunstable and Whitford roads in the wee hours Tuesday for reports of shots being fired located a suspect, an AK-47, and some evidence, and after investigating further took the suspect into custody.
Daniel McInnis, 28, of 442 Main Dunstable Road, was charged with one count of reckless conduct – deadly weapon, a Class B felony that accuses him of discharging two rounds from the semi-automatic rifle while in close proximity to several residences along Main Dunstable Road, police said.
McInnis was booked on the charge then jailed pending arraignment, which was scheduled for Wednesday in Superior Court.
Police said first-arriving officers to the call located McInnis outside his residence. “Evidence observed on the property suggested a firearm was recently discharged,” police added.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division were called in, and upon further investigation they identified McInnis as allegedly “being responsible for discharging two rounds” of the AK-47 near the residences.
The weapon was seized, police said, adding that there were no injuries reported.
Police didn’t indicate what led to McInnis allegedly firing the shots, or if the shots were random or whether someone or something may have been targeted.
Police ask anyone with any additional information on the incident to call the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
