Parade honors Nashua High School North graduates

By Staff | May 31, 2020

NASHUA – The Nashua High School North community came together Friday to participate in a parade that looped around the city in honor of the class of 2020.

Participants gathered at the high school and decorated their vehicles before forming a line that was led by the Nashua Police Department. As vehicles decked out in balloons and streamers honked their horns, a Nashua Fire engine trailed behind.

The parade took a route that passed by multiple city schools where students and proud parents stood watching on and waving. Many graduating seniors even donned their caps and gowns for the event.

“These kids have worked for 12 years to get to this point, and this is really a defining moment in all of their lives,” School Counselor at North Renee Crowell said.

She and three other school staff members helped organize the event. Other organizers included School Counselor Sandra “Sandy” Bent, Student Activities Coordinator MaryJean “MJ” Flanagan and Social Studies Teacher Mabel Brown.

Crowell said that regardless of whatever these students’ journey is going to be after high school, they have worked really hard to get to this point, and that nobody could have ever guessed this was how it would end for them.

Dozens of people celebrated them and congratulated them on their accomplishment in a unique way by passing through multiple neighborhoods around the city. The parade went by a number of different schools, including Broad Street Elementary School, Birch Hill Elementary School, Pennichuck Middle School, Charlotte Avenue Elementary School, Amherst Street Elementary School, Mount Pleasant Elementary School, Elm Street Middle School and Dr. Norman W. Crisp Elementary School.
