PELHAM – Police are circulating a surveillance video and images of an individual smashing through a glass door and loading up a duffle bag with cartons of cigarettes in the Stateline Market early Saturday morning.

Police ask anyone who may recognize the individual, or have more information, upon seeing the video to contact the department’s criminal bureau at 635-2411.

As its name implies, the market, at 24 Bridge St., is just north of the Pelham-Dracut, Mass. line, and is one of several stores and other businesses along that stretch of Bridge Street, which is Route 38.

Police said the burglary occured about 3:20 a.m. Saturday. The video shows a person dressed in mostly black clothing, wearing a hood and some type of facemask and two-tone athletic shoes, shattering the lower portion of a glass door then entering the store after pushing the glass out of the way.

The suspect, who is carrying a medium-size duffle bag, quickly walks behind the counter to the cigarette cabinets and, according to police, begins loading cartons of Newports and single packs of Marlboros into the bag.

Police estimate the suspect was in the store for about a minute and a half.

They said although traffic on Bridge Street was “very light” at the time, there were “a few vehicles that passed the store” during that time frame, and police are hoping the drivers may have noticed something that would help the investigation.
