Fratello’s
If you’ve ever been to a Fratello’s or Homestead restaurant, you’re familiar with just how well the McDonough brothers and their teams know and do food. From comforting Americana to nostalgic and delicious Italian, every plate is superb.
Fratello’s in Downtown Nashua is the newest addition to the family, having been established in 2015 in the Masonic Building on Main Street. A bustling spot in the heart of downtown, it is an easy choice to make when meeting up with friends, celebrating a birthday, or simply stopping in for a weeknight dinner and drinks.
Unfortunately, we can’t pop in for a sit-down meal these days, but we can take advantage of their pickup and delivery services six nights a week, and that in itself is a sure relief.
The current menu at Fratello’s has been shrunk down just a bit to accommodate their hours and services for the time being, but as far as the selection goes, it certainly hasn’t been simplified, in our opinion. Antipasti selections are delicious starters and snacks, designed for sharing. Fried Calamari is a generous heap of lightly breaded and fried rings, drizzled with sliced hot cherry peppers, lemon butter, garlic, basil and white wine atop a bed of linguine.
Arancini are delicately fried parmesan risotto balls stuffed with roasted red pepper and spinach, accompanied by marinara & parmesan. Famous and surely a guarded family recipe, Fratello’s Meatballs are topped with Marinara and shaved parmesan cheese.
Any one of three classic salads can be topped with grilled chicken, sirloin tips, or grilled salmon for very reasonable upcharges. Eighteen diverse and tantalizing entrees are available for our selection, and boast a wide array of proteins, pastas, fresh vegetables, creamy cheeses and delectable sauces. Chicken Carbonara is artfully crafted with mushrooms, bacon, green peas and tomatoes in a rich alfredo sauce, tossed with fettuccine and garnished with scallions.
A Baked Stuffed Haddock dominates the seafood section with a seafood stuffing, lobster sherry cream and melted mozzarella. The Northender rounds it all out with meatballs, sausage and chicken breast baked on a pile of penne, topped with marinara and mozzarella. All entrees come with a side of mashed potato, french fries, creamy risotto, or broccoli.
Tried and true pizza options include the likes of Fratello’s pizza (spinach, feta, pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella and red sauce), a white pizza (olive oil, garlic, mozzarella & fresh parmesan), and the Meatlovers (ground beef, pepperoni, bacon & sausage). A meatball or sausage Sub with marinara and melted mozzarella is a simple yet delicious dinner, and the Kids’ Menu boasts an impressive list of items like steak tips, .mac ‘n cheese and chicken parmesan, as well as a few for the more little ones.
Desserts are never to be overlooked when the fridge is just a few feet away offering safe storage till your meal has settled.
Cannoli, tiramisu, chocolate bombs and cheesecake are the perfect gift to your sweet tooth. Much to our delight, imported and domestic beers are available with our orders, as well as bottles of wine, the latter of which are generously discounted for the duration of the mandated restaurant shutdown.
We hope that we can stop on by for a drink and dinner with the crew at Fratello’s this summer. In the meantime, we’ll gladly call them for pickup or delivery soon. Whether it be a pasta dish, a pizza, a snack or five, or dessert and a bottle of wine, Fratello’s on Main Street is serving up whatever we’re in the mood for.
