Share Some Good News – April 2 – Chicken N Chips

By Staff | Apr 2, 2020

NASHUA – Small businesses come and go, especially in a fast paced market like food service. Nashua has seen so many businesses last for years, only to succumb to time and circumstances, that it can be difficult to keep track of them all. Every once in a while, a restaurant is acquired and is able to continue forward. When it was learned that Chicken N Chips on West Hollis Street in Nashua was closing, the collective lamentations and sighs of disappointment were almost audible. But Jim and Gina Udice, owners of Professor’s Pizza in Hudson, recognized the gravity of the situation, and quickly stepped in to buy it. In doing so, they made it possible for diners to continue enjoying the downtown staple, which had been filling hearts and bellies for over 50 years. The menu was to stay the same, and the people rejoiced.

Boasting an extensive selection of choices, that menu has something for everyone: Chicken Stix (chicken tenders hand-trimmed and breaded), Chicken Wings, Fried Chicken on the bone, and seafood platters (Fisherman’s Platter, Shrimp Plate, Fish and Chips, Scallop Plate, and a Clam Plate), as well as burgers and wraps are all sure to satisfy your hunger. Grilled chicken, BBQ or Buffalo Chicken and Haddock on bulkie rolls are also available. Portions of platters and baskets are so large that people who order a small often wonder if they accidentally got a large. However, ordering a large is a sure way to wind up with leftovers, which is never a bad thing.

The sides that Chicken N Chips offers are in a world of their own, and at the top of the list of favorites are their famous Jo Jo Potatoes- huge potato wedges that are seasoned and fried to crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside perfection. Portion options for Jo Jo’s are broken up by how many mouths they can feed, and that’s a testament to their size right there. Other sides include their equally famous onion rings, regular or spicy fries, and mozzarella sticks. And in case you ever wanted a side of fried seafood with your meal, Chicken N Chips has it covered: clams, shrimp, haddock or scallops can be added to any dinner for a very reasonable price.

If there’s still room for it, or if you’d like a sweet snack for after your food-induced nap, there’s a handful of decadent desserts to choose from. Slices of Double Chocolate Cake, New York Style Cheesecake, Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie and individual Whoopie Pies are each available for under $5.00.

Jim, Gina and their team are empowered by their loyal community, and continue to offer their amazing food during these uncertain times by providing pick up and delivery. Keep up to date with them by following them on Facebook and checking out the full menu on their website.
