Hudson-Litchfield Rotary announces scholarships

By Christina Madden - Correspondent | Mar 29, 2020

HUDSON – Despite the fact that Hudson’s Alvirne High School and Litchfield’s Campbell High School are closed, the Hudson-Litchfield Rotary Club, in consultation with school administrators, still will award its annual scholarships to graduating seniors at these schools.

In addition to the $5,000 in scholarship money to be awarded as previously, this year the Club also will award a $500 “toolship.” This will be presented to a graduating senior of Alvirne High School’s Career and Technical Education Program to provide funds to purchase tools or equipment as the student starts out in their chosen field.

COVID-19 precautions make getting the word out about the scholarships and receiving application a bit of a challenge this year, but Scholarship Chair Elaine Cutler has been busy working things out with the schools. Alvirne and Campbell High Schools now have the necessary forms for students to apply for the scholarships and the “toolship.”

Interested students are being asked contact the guidance office at their respective schools. Completed forms may be mailed to the Hudson-Litchfield Rotary Club PO Box 6, Hudson, NH 03051 or emailed to: Hudson.Litchfield.Rotary@gmail.com.

Applications must be received by April 20 to be considered for the scholarships.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, regular meetings of the Hudson-Litchfield Rotary have been suspended through April 30. Through the efforts of Club Vice President Kathleen Connerty, Hudson-Litchfield Rotary members now are conducting their regular weekly meetings through Zoom.

The Scholarship Committee will Zoom its meeting to decide on scholarship recipients once all the applications have been received in accordance with the deadline.
