Charles Carroll

NASHUA – A 57-year-old Hunt Street resident is facing felony charges for allegedly firing a handgun multiple times off his back porch late Monday night, police said.

Charles Carroll, of 47 Hunt St., is accused of “placing several nearby residents in danger” when he allegedly fired several rounds into the ground around 8:30 p.m.

Police said detectives called in to investigate the incident charged Carroll with two counts of reckless conduct, which are Class B felonies.

He was booked at police headquarters then later released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which is currently scheduled for April 30 in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

Police said nobody was injured in the incident, adding that officers seized the firearm believed to be involved.

The backyard of 47 Hunt St. is adjacent to the backyard of a home on Nagle Street, and is just north of Pine Street.

Police described the area as “a compact residential neighborhood,” where “homes are in close proximity to one another.”

Carroll’s residence is just down the street from the location of a September 2019 police standoff with an allegedly armed man.

The standoff ended when police shot the suspect, William Case, who lived at 21 Hunt St. He later recovered and charged with related offenses.

Police ask that anyone with any additional information on the incident involving Carroll contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
