Man in jail because of knife attack

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Mar 26, 2020

NASHUA – Officers responding earlier this week to reports of a domestic disturbance in which a man was allegedly weilding two large knives arrived to find the suspect “actively threatening” a woman known to him, police said.

It took several minutes, police said, but the suspect, John-Paul Faggons, eventually surrendered to the officers, who took him into custody and alerted detectives, who furthered the investigation.

Ultimately, Faggons, 28, of 28 Spalding St., was charged with one count of second-degree assault and two counts of criminal threatening, Class B felonies, along with three counts of criminal mischief and one count of resisting arrest, all Class A misdemeanors.

Faggons was booked and later transported to Valley Street jail, where he was ordered held on preventive detention pending arraignment and a bail hearing.

Those hearings were scheduled for Monday in Hillsborough County Superior Court South, but whether they took place is unknown. It’s possible the lawyers agreed to continue the hearings due to the COVID-19 virus threat, which has limited court dockets to few, if any, proceedings beginning last week.

Police said the incident occurred at the alleged victim’s Nashua residence, and that Faggons allegedly began threatening her with the knives during a physical altercation that took place before officers arrived.

Both the woman and Faggons sustained injuries during the alleged altercation, according to police, who described the injuries as minor in nature.

Faggons is also accused of damaging property inside the woman’s residence, police added.

Once at police headquarters, Faggons allegedly damaged an interior sprinkler head while he was in custody, police said.

Police ask that anyone with any additional information regarding the incident call the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
