Rosenwald introduces Medicaid dental benefit

By Staff | Mar 5, 2020

CONCORD – State Sen. Cindy Rosenwald, D-Nashua, introduced SB 754-FN on Teesday to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. If enacted, the bill would provide comprehensive dental coverage to adults enrolled in the Medicaid program. New Hampshire Medicaid currently covers children, but has only limited emergency coverage for adults.

“The public understands that oral health plays a significant role in one’s overall health, yet New Hampshire does not currently have a dental benefit for adults in the Medicaid program,” Rosenwald said after the hearing. “This proves costly down the road in addition to being a hindrance to enrollees’ health. In our budget, the Legislature was able to fund start-up costs to incorporate dental coverage for adults, as 34 other states already do. It is long past time that we provide dental benefits to Granite Staters who rely on Medicaid for their health care–I look forward to working with my colleagues to shepherd SB 754 through the legislative process.”
