Wild Wednesday winner receives prize

By ADAM URQUHART - Staff Writer | Jan 19, 2020

NASHUA – Catherine Foley of Londonderry has participated in The Telegraph’s annual Wild Wednesday contest for years, and her persistence paid off when her name was drawn as the 2019 grand-prize winner.

Foley participates in the contest with her older daughter, and when she learned she had won this time around she was, “shocked to say the least.” She has been trying to win big with the contest for well over a decade.

“It finally paid off,” Foley said. “It’s awesome.”

When Telegraph’s Publisher Heather Goodwin Henline called to give her the good news, Foley could not wait to tell her daughter.

“It’s nice to be able to give back to the community and to have such a contest,” Goodwin Henline said. “Thanksgiving and preparing that edition is out favorite time of year here at The Telegraph.”

Foley’s name was drawn in late December, and she picked up her winnings at The Telegraph Thursday, beaming a bright smile while holding her gift basket of holiday-themed goodies. The postal worker also received $500, and is now pondering how she plans to spend the money.

“I kind of want to take my family, maybe, up north – see the ice castles, go to Indian Head Resort – so, I’m thinking along those lines,” Foley said.

Entry forms for the contest were available in The Telegraph’s Thanksgiving edition, which is the newspaper’s largest of the year. The paper featured more than $500,000 in coupons and savings offers.

The mother and daughter duo have made an annual tradition of purchasing The Telegraph to preview all the Black Friday sales. Foley said.

“I’ve been reading The Telegraph for years, and years, and years, and I will always continue to do so, and I can’t thank them enough,” Foley said.
