Agreement resolves local man’s charges

NASHUA – Former Nashua and Hudson resident Michael Cabot has agreed to serve two to four years in State Prison sentence in exchange for one of several guilty pleas he entered this week on a series of charges going back two years.

The sentence, on which Cabot was granted 154 days of credit off the minimum for time already served, stems from his guilty plea to a felony count of stalking – domestic violence, one of four counts that had initially been charged as Class A misdemeanors.

The remaining charges, which are the result of Cabot’s arrests by Nashua and Hudson police, include simple assault, criminal mischief, stalking, violating a court order and failure to appear in court, some of which were dismissed, or involved suspended or deferred jail sentences.

Assistant County Attorney Cassie Devine, who prosecuted the case, said the agreement reflects a “global resolution” of Cabot’s cases, meaning that the agreement settled all of his pending charges.

She said the victim, Cabot’s domestic partner, supported the resolution.

The 154 days of credit brings Cabot’s minimum remaining sentence to roughly 1 year and 7 months.

Other terms of the agreement order Cabot to successfully participate in the prison’s batterers intervention program, and also participate in its Focus program.

Mainly because Cabot and the victim have children together, the agreement stipulates that Cabot may visit them, but do so “at the discretion of” the victim.

According to Cabot’s case files at Nashua district court, the charges that drew deferred sentences – all misdemeanors – include four counts of criminal mischief; two counts each of stalking – domestic violence and simple assault; and one count of simple assault – domestic violence.

The court has scheduled a hearing on the deferred sentences for 8:15 a.m. Feb. 20, the files state.
