Demolition underway; 17,900-square-foot shopping center planned in Hudson

HUDSON – If all goes as planned, Hudson will have a new shopping center at 2 Flagstone Drive by September.

The Lannan Co., based in Nashua, received approval from the Hudson Planning Board members last month to proceed with developing Flagstone Crossing. Plans show it is set to feature a new 17,900-square-foot shopping center.

Demolition work of four buildings on the site continues, but officials said this should be finished by the end of the year.

Company President Richard Lannan said demolition of the last building is expected to be complete by the end of this week. Demolition on the last of four structures on the site is set to start Monday.

“By April 1, we’re hoping to begin site work and construction and be turning space over to tenants by Sept. 1,” Lannan said.

Currently, two businesses have already been announced to fill space in the shopping center. These are Starbucks, which is slated to occupy 2,200 square feet, as well as Digital Federal Credit Union, set to take a 5,000-square-foot space. Lannan said this firm may is relocate from its current location at 257 Lowell Road.

Leases with several other potential tenants remain in negotiation.

The daily traffic count in this area of town exceeds 40,000. The property is at the intersection of Route 3, Flagstone Drive, and the Circumferential Highway.

“We’re excited about it,” Lannan said. “We own other commercial real estate in southern New Hampshire, but I think this is a real prime location.”

Bohler Engineering, Landry Architects and TCD Construction are working collaboratively with Lannan to complete the shopping center for tenants to occupy on Sept. 1. He said TCD is doing the construction, while the architect is Landry. Additionally, subcontractors in Nashua and Hudson will likely also pitch in on this project.

Officials said the site will ultimately feature two buildings, with plans for up to eight tenants to occupy spaces.

Lannan believes this will be an upgrade because the previous buildings were older, so this project will add a fresh new look to Hudson.
