No updates on suspicious Pelham death; suspect charged

CONCORD – Representatives of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office involved in the investigation into the suspicious death Tuesday of a person in an upscale Pelham residence remained quiet Thursday, providing no additional details as the probe entered its third day.

Authorities in their initial statement, issued around mid-morning Tuesday, said only that state and local law enforcement personnel were “responding to an untimely death in Pelham.” No address was given.

They later referred to the death as “suspicious,” but haven’t issued any statements since.

Roughly 20 hours later, around 7 a.m. Wednesday, the AG’s office issued a statement advising that state and local police were responding to a suspicious death at 48 Phillipswoods Road in Sandown.

The next statement regarding Sandown was issued around 8 p.m. Wednesday, advising that an autopsy on the victim, identified as 88-year-old Aline Irish, had been completed, and the manner of death was homicide.

The statement also identified the suspect as her grandson, Patrick Irish, 42. He was arrested and arraigned on two counts of second-degree murder.

As for the Pelham case, neighbors said they saw emergency vehicles arrive early Tuesday morning, and by mid-morning police had cordoned off the residence, a large, upscale home at 9 Collins Way.

Town property records list the primary owner as a trust in the name of the Billings Family, and a secondary owner as Donovan T. Billings.

Later Wednesday, a stretcher was wheeled out of the home and put in a vehicle from a Manchester funeral home.

Indications were the autopsy on the victim would be completed on Wednesday, but there was no confirmation from the AG’s office.
