Storm pushes jury selection
NASHUA – Monday’s scheduled jury selection for Nashua resident Bruce Hanson’s trial on sexual assault, trafficking and prostitution allegations was called off due to the snowstorm, according to court officials.
The selection process is now scheduled for Dec. 16, at Hillsborough County Superior Court-South.
Testimony could begin a day or two after the jury is seated, or as late as the following Monday, Dec. 23.
As of now, it is unknown whether the Christmas holiday will affect the scheduling process.
The trial will be Hanson’s second in the past three months, while a third trial scheduled for early November was canceled after prosecutors abruptly dropped all of the six charges on which he was to be tried.
The first trial ended when the jury, after about 45 minutes of deliberations, found Hanson not guilty of two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
As for the upcoming trial, Hanson faces one count each of trafficking – involuntary servitude; aggravated felonious sexual assault – threaten retaliation; and prostitution – force or intimidation.
