Nashua Elks preparing to observe national holiday

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Nov 29, 2019

NASHUA – The Nashua Lodge of Elks will be joining thousands of lodges across the nation on Sunday for its annual observance of Elks Memorial Sunday, which each year pays tribute to lodge members who died over the past year.

The observance, which starts at 9 a.m. at the lodge, 12 Murphy Drive, Unit B-1, also honors “those who lost their lives in the defense of our country,” according to the program.

Members of the public are invited, officials said. Their attendance “is welcomed as an expression of esteem for departed members and those of the armed services.”

The service, which is about an hour long, will feature Elks chaplain Cheryl McDonough as guest speaker. Lodge member Naomi Mancuso will provide live music for the service, which will be led by Exalted Ruler Kelly Dorgan Cote.

The traditional Roll Call of the Absent and Altar Service will conclude the program. Light refreshments will be served.

To find out about the Elks programs visit the national website at www.elks.org/ and check out how they contribute to the community.
