Police standoff near Nashua middle school

By ADAM URQUHART - Staff Writer | Oct 25, 2019

NASHUA — First responders flood the area of Chestnut Street in Nashua on Friday afternoon for a standoff situation at a city residence. Chestnut Street was closed between Lake and Lovell Streets while law enforcement officers worked at the scene. While some nearby homes on Chestnut Street were evacuated, residents who remained on the edge of the scene watched the situation transpire from their porches.

While this incident was unfolding, students who typically walk home from Elm Street Middle School waited at school for parents or guardians to pick them up. Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent Tara Kinsella said students are safe.

“We do have a bus stop for one of our elementary schools that is right in that region from Sunset Heights,” Kinsella said.

She said parents of the children affected by that bus route were notified.
