VeoRide to propose e-scooters for Nashua

By Mathew Plamondon - Staff Writer | Jun 22, 2019

NASHUA – With the success of the VeoRide bicycle mobility program, which began in Nashua last year, the company is hoping to bolster its mobility fleet with e-scooters.

Officials are scheduled to discuss the matter during a special Board of Alderman Meeting at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 229 Main St.

“We’re proposing a pilot program, similar to what we did with the bikes,” Ezra Richardson, a VeoRide employee who was at the Nashua Transit Center on Thursday and Friday, said.

“We brought a select number of vehicles to the city to test ridership to get people excited about other mobility options,” he said about the pilot program the company ran for the bikes prior to the city adopting the program.

With what the company sees as a successful implementation of the VeoRide bike system, Richardson said there is a hope the city will boost the mobility program with the scooters, which he said provide different perks than the bicycles.

“It’s a little easier to ride if you have mobility issues. It’s also a little more fun,” he said. “It’s also easier to go long distances with, and we think it would be a great option for Nashua to include in their mobility fleet.”
