City officials passed a concession agreement involving the city and the teams’s new owner earlier this week.

NASHUA – The city will receive $1,000 per game, plus 40% of the revenue from concession sales, for Nashua Silver Knights games played at Holman Stadium, according to an agreement officially approved this week.

John Creedon Jr. bought the baseball team franchise with the agreement of paying the city $1,000 per game for use of Holman Stadium on Amherst Street, reaching upwards of an estimated $28,000 per year for a schedule consisting of 28 home games being played between Memorial Day week and sometime around mid-August each year, although there may be the possibility of additional playoff games.

Creedon also owns another team within the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England, that being the Worcester Bravehearts of Worcester, Massachusetts.

Mayor Jim Donchess told Board of Aldermen members this week that he believes this is a very positive change for the city.

“The new owners have come in and have shown a lot of enthusiasm for the team and for the ability to have very quality baseball at Holman Stadium,” Donchess said.

Donchess said a reception for the fans at Holman Stadium took place last week. He said the new owners were well received with fans who seemed enthusiastic about the change.

According to the concession agreement, the city of Nashua will receive 40% of net profits of concession sales from city non-league games and other sponsored events.

The agreement states it will last through Dec. 31, 2020. However, the franchisor also shall have the right to exercise up to five additional, one-year options to extend the parties’ agreement. However, the per game fee will be subject to adjustment pursuant to the consumer price index applicable to the city.

The resolution city officials passed earlier in the week is for the use of Holman Stadium, Resolution 19-132, which authorizes the mayor to enter into a successor “concession agreement” with Granite Diamond LLC., which is an entity that formed to handle operations and the purchase of the team.

Also, the agreement indicates an electronic marquee board may be built on Amherst Street. It states, “Buyer understands that the city is considering locating a video marquee board along Amherst Street to advertise programming and events at the premises (the “marquee“). Should the marquee be installed during the term of this concession agreement, as it may be extended from time to time, franchisor shall be given nonexclusive access to the marquee in order to advertise its events at the premises.”
