NASHUA – The Merrimack man arrested earlier this year for allegedly making believe he was a police officer – even passing off his pet German shepherd as an official police K-9 – is among several Greater Nashua men and women indicted this week by the April term of the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South grand jury.

An indictment is not an indication, or proof of, guilt, but represents the Grand Jury’s determination that enough evidence exists for prosecutors to move the case forward in Superior Court.

Obadiah Croteau, 22, of 2 Executive Park Drive, Unit 111, Merrimack, is charged with three counts of false personation, felonies, which accuse him of unlawfully identifying himself as a police officer, driving a green Dodge Charger very similar to state police cruisers and equipped with a light bar marked “Executive Protection Unit,” according to the indictments.

Croteau allegedly “falsely wore and displayed” a police ID, and even had an ID badge identifying his dog as a police “K-9 Unit,” the indictments state.

The alleged offenses took place between Oct. 1 and Feb. 22 in Merrimack.
