Rotary Club of Nashua community grants available; deadline is May 1

By Grace Pecci - Staff Writer | Apr 5, 2019

NASHUA – The Rotary Club of Nashua is continuing its commitment of providing “service above self” by again distributing $25,000 worth of community grants to nonprofits serving the Nashua community.

Club members conduct various fundraisers throughout the year. Profits go back to the community in the form of scholarships and community grants.

Club information states that although any nonprofit organization may apply, preference is given to those that impact the greatest number of Nashua residents. In addition, they said requests for general agency operating funding will be considered a low priority. The club does not honor requests for ongoing multi-year funding.

Applicants to the Rotary Club of Nashua Community Grants Program must meet specific criteria. Requirements include being a nonprofit that is focused on serving the needs of the Nashua community and its residents, completing and including the required financials, being willing to participate in an interview, and in addition, the Nashua Community Program/Project must be in the range of $1,500- $5,000. Nonprofits that receive funding in 2019 are not eligible to apply in 2020.

Those interested in applying for the grants can download and complete the online application, which can be found at www.nashuarotary.org. Applicants must respond to all questions included in the application, and attach Form 990, the operating budget for the current physical year, the organization’s nonprofit status with the IRS letter, or if the organization is in the process of applying for nonprofit status, include the organization that will be the fiscal agent. In the application, organizations and programs must include their applicant an amount.

In addition, applicants will be asked to briefly describe their program/ project for which funds are being requested. Descriptions should include:

• The agency/organization’s reason for offering this program in 300 words,

• A description of the need in the community for the program referencing particular reports or studies as available in 300 words,

• A description of the results or intended results of the program in 300 words,

• An expected timetable and duration of the program in 300 words, and

• The number of people being served by the program, along with the towns the featured in the program in 300 words.

Applicants may also include a description of other similar or comparable programs offered in the community in 300 words.

Applicants must submit 17 hard copies of their application and any other attachments they wish to provide. Applications may not be sent by via e-mail. All documents should be sent to: William H. Barry III, Esquire, Barry & Honorow, P.L.L.C., 161 Kinsley St., Nashua, NH 03060.

For questions regarding the application, call Barry at 603-883-0474. All application materials must be received by 4 p.m. May 1.
