Officers were sent at about 3 p.m. Monday to a Merrimack residence, the address of which wasn’t provided, after receiving a report that an assault had just taken place.
Police said “it was apparent” that there had been an altercation between the two sons. While the officers were conducting their investigation, Marcel Trepanier allegedly “became belligerent with one of the officers, and grabbed and pulled the officer toward him,” police said.
He also “tried to pull his arms away” from officers attempting to take him into custody, resulting in the resisting charge, police said.
Meanwhile, officers through their investigation, determined Jason and Robert Trepanier had been involved in an argument, which police said led to a physical altercation.
During the skirmish, police said, Robert allegedly struck Jason in the hand with a putty knife, and Jason in turn allegedly struck his brother in the head.
