Plea deal reached in DUI crash

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Oct 17, 2018

NASHUA – Litchfield resident Devin Quinn, 22, pleaded guilty this week in Superior Court to a single misdemeanor charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated in exchange for a fine and deferred and suspended jail time.

Quinn, of 8 Griffin Road, was sentenced to two years in Valley Street jail, all deferred for two years, then suspended for four years, providing he remains on good behavior and complies with other terms of the agreement.

The charge stems from Quinn’s arrest the early morning of Aug. 28, 2017, after a serious crash in which he lost control of the 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck he was driving on Kienia Road, in northeast Hudson near the Londonderry line.

Police said at the time, the truck went off the right side of the road and slammed into a tree near the intersection of Stevens Drive.

Both Quinn and his passenger, Tyler O’Halloran, 22, of Hudson, sustained what police described as serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Neither Quinn, nor O’Halloran, were wearing seat belts, police said. Firefighters removed both of them from the wreckage of the vehicle.

Both were taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. O’Halleran was later transferred to a Boston hospital, police added.

Additional terms of the plea agreement include a $1,000 fine, plus fees, which Quinn paid on the day of the hearing, according to the sentencing order.

His driving privileges were revoked for 18 months, during which time he cannot operate a motor vehicle or a boat, the order states.

Two other charges Quinn had faced – second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated driving while intoxicated, collision and bodily injury resulting – were dropped as part of the agreement.
